There is a lot of suspense in these exploding flowers. With liquid nitrogen and slow motion film, it's really exciting to watch! I love the connections in color and still life to the French Revolution. You should really take a trip over on Sunday to see this exhibit.

Seattle Adventures...
Well, we have finally settled back in from our trip to the NAEA conference which took place in downtown Seattle. It was a jam-packed 5 day trip. We took advantage of the close proximity of museums, shops, and public art that was all within walking distance of our hotel & conference center.
It was an excellent trip, and Sarah & I had so much fun making our way around the city.

Waves of Mercy

Beautiful little waves have a place in everyone's heart!
It took about one hundred shots before I got this one. It was cold, and the current was very strong. I was hundred of yards off from the shore I started on when taking these photos. I had to really get into the waves and follow them with my camera to make a clear image. I saw the strangest thing happen between waves sets, when the water was sucking out... I saw a miniature sideways wave perpendicular to the beach! It was about 6 inches, and curling perfectly until the next wave rose past.

Currently, I'm going into production mode. I'm working with some new styles of artwork. I've been exploring a lot lately. I've found some niches that I feel others might enjoy as well. Here are a couple examples of the new stuff. There are not too many people out there mixing media like this, and I feel it get's me in touch with my graphic roots. Look for more artwork soon!

I found some old wood just waiting to be re-made into something. And we have the perfect backyard for a picnic table. So Away to work I went.

How do they come up with these things? I think I need to add a bit of design to our crest. In our sur name description from Disneyland it explains Ethington as a very old name from Northumberland in England. The first Ethington to America was circa 1600. I'm taking any advice and suggestions on making or adding too the crest.

Hole Mouth

Had to go the Dentist today. We had some small pot holes to fix. Mostly caused by clenching my jaw. Good dentistry is such a blessing. Some other holes I patched today with my easel. I'm finally getting back to work on a series I started in mind for the Southcoast Ebbers Street church in OB.
Less Type more Paint! I also finished the donation of art kits to Loveworks yesterday. I can't wait to hear stories about kids who will use watercolor sets in other countries who have never even seen a watercolor set before. I'm hoping to send a little paint by number instructions with a cross or something. Still working on the side too.

Camera Housing

A few weeks ago we made this cool video camera housing using an old .50 caliber ammo case. We spray painted it and added a little extra black duct tape just in case it leaked. However it worked great! We of course used Plexiglas over the hole in the ammo box and glued it on with 5200 marine glue. A little velcro holds the camera in place.

I was looking through pictures and cleaning up my desktop, this one caught my eye. Can you believe that kayak was right there in the background at the right time? Note: I was just learning the whip at this time. I don't wear the goggles anymore.

Ode to The Smell of Wood

You may know WE have recently made a hallow wood surfboard. "We..." This process requires a minimum of one month. How did we accomplish finishing building this hallow wooden surfboard in only 2 weeks. "We..." It was the we. We accomplished it by having my 20 students working non-stop. Something like a construction crew building all around the clock to finish a road or building that must be completed. I was the Foreman, therefore I was reading instructions, and learning to use new tools always teaching my work crew before they started working, staying one step ahead. It was exhausting, but rewarding. Thanks to my ever beautiful and understanding wife for the long hours she let me work, and even getting involved and bringing me dinner to school. Sarah The Great was involved in gluing the board together and helping with the shape. Keep a look out for a future post of this finished beautiful board.

RedEthics website is off the ground and running! I spent a lot of time working on this site. Check out RedEthics.com and you can see why. It is a series of things. It is a portfolio of studio work, a display of what I have done and what I'm interested in. It also encompasses some fairly big ideals I have for a movement in art. Including a few different styles my plein air landscape work, my abstract interpretation style, and even silkscreen prints. How could we leave out graphic design? Of course there will be a portfolio of that as well. Don't get lost navigating through those pages.

I just made a guitar stand, that started out as a surfboard stand.
I call it "A" guitar stand. (The Shape)

I was playing with my camera today. Play is how all great things get accomplished. And I found the Kingdom of Heaven in my dog's fur. Just look at the pictures and you will see what I mean.
